Is the Western media's Olympics coverage fair to China

Ran across a good article on this subject. My own view is that there has been more coverage of the negatives, e.g. the air pollution, the CGI fireworks, and the lip synching in the opening ceremony on this Olympics than warranted, than warranted by the facts. On the other hand, many of the Chinese critics were unaware that Western media love to report on scandals (just look at the US Presidentail campaign), and since there has been no doping scandals so far they have to make do with the Chinese version of Liza Minelli.

If the US MSM applied the same level of scrutiny to other country's conduct in this Olympics, this picture of the Spanish basketball team should've shown up on the nightly news:

IMHO using CGI for fireworks was pretty lame; real fireworks did go up and exploded as intended. The only thing worthy of note on the lip-synching pixie is the official who claimed this was "done for the national interest." There is still a lot that the Chinese don't understand about the Occidental mind, and vice versa.
