McCain's VP pick

My first impression is that this will be seen as a desperate ploy to win disgruntled Hillary supporters. I thought people on the right will see her as another Harriet Miers, a lighweight selected for cynical electoral reasons. After skimming a couple of right wing blogs and Fox News commentaries, however, I realized that I was wrong. Ms. Palin, it turned out, was against abortion under any circumstances and is a creationist to boot. A lot of those PUMA (Party Unity My Ass) Hillary supporters are blue-collar middle-aged white women for whom abortion is not a deal breaker.

I know she is an unknown and the Democrats have a good chance of defining her, but I hope they'll be cautious. Focus on her ultraconservative social stances and possible corruption allegations for now and wait until the convention's over before deciding on an angle of attack.
